“What is the Most Popular Christmas Song?” is a question many people pose, and it is often answered by the traditional Christmas song, “Carol Of The Bells.” Unfortunately for the rest of us, what is the most popular Christmas song really depends on your perspective.
In my opinion, the most popular Christmas song is “Auld Lang Syne.” I know this because I grew up listening to this song on the radio and every year when Xmas comes around I still cringe when I hear it. Every year it seems like the list of Christmas songs gets shorter. I guess this is because more people are listening to alternative music. So here is my list of the top twelve Christmas songs of all time.
“Auld Lang Syne” by Auld Lang Syne is probably the first Christmas song that comes to mind when you think of the Christmas holiday. This song was first played on the radio in 1903. The lyrics speak of the twelve great days of Christmas, which include: the winter, the sunshine, the spring, the summer, the autumn, the green, and the brown. It speaks of Christmas trees and the gifts that are received on these days.
For me, “Auld Lang Syne” is the best song to ever be on the radio on the twelve days of Christmas. Every time I hear it on the radio during the Christmas season, I imagine what it would be like if we lived in that day. Instead of a snow day, there would be beautiful days, and we could open our gifts right away. Instead of the weeds being nigh-on impossible to get rid of, there would be beautiful flowers all around. And instead of the black dog going yapping at the door, there would be little merfolk all around.
What is the most popular Christmas song on the radio has become a highly debated topic. Some people will say, of course, “What is the Most Popular Christmas Song?” and they will look at the top ten lists and see what they think. Others will look at the week-end lists and choose their favorite from those.
Well, for some people, it would be: “All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth.” That is certainly a wonderful song, and it is certainly worth a listen to just to see how people have voted. But, I think there is one more song that should be on the list. It would be: “O Holy Night.” Every time I see that light on the storefront, I think of the angel who is watching over Christmas.
Why is “O Holy Night” song so amazing? I guess because when I was growing up, this was one of my very favorite songs. And as an adult, I still love this one. It is sung by the greatest Christmas ever, Garth Stein. And people still bring it up at Christmas time. So, it must be doing something right.
If you are looking for answers to your questions about what is the most popular Christmas song, look no further. I can tell you that what is the most popular Christmas song is still the same today as it was when we were kids. It’s always a good song to listen to, whether you are young or old. It always brings a tear to my eye when I hear it.
Nowadays, the top of the chart is dominated by hits from the X-Box and Play Station platforms. However, some of the older popular songs just seem to not have the appeal they once did. For instance, the very first song that topped the charts when Christmas was a new concept is, “White Christmas.” That song has stuck around for years now, and to this day, is one of the most beloved holiday songs. Even though the format of the shows has changed, the basic Christmas song is still one of my favorites.
Some people really like the feel and style of newer songs. We saw this recently when One Republic released their latest single, “Reach Down.” While not the most exciting of songs, it was well received by both fans and critics alike.
No matter who you are, or where you are, Christmas is a wonderful time of year. I have always found that watching old movies and traditional Christmas programs just makes the whole thing that much more fun. Do you enjoy the holiday cheer? If so, then maybe listening to one of your all time favorites like “The Most Popular Christmas Songs” will be right up your alley. I know I do.
